"Looking In and Letting Go: Faces & Places" was the new exhibit currently on display at Elisa Contemporary Art, a wonderful gallery located in North Riverdale, NY. Owned & operated by Lisa Cooper, there were about 10 works of art from different types of perspectives on various mediums. The theme was designed to connect the audience with "a range of figurative artwork... and want to offer places and spaces, they can get lost within." There were 6 different artists presented, all from different locations ranging from San Francisco to Connecticut and Canada down to Columbia.

I took about 9 of my students from Brilliant Minds to view this exhibit since our past 2 lessons were about impressionist landscapes and expressionist self-portraits! They were fascinated by the diverse array of fantastic artwork. It was a huge source of inspiration.

Faces: Bright pop-art pieces by Mitch McGee dominated the faces side while magical baroque oil portraits by Ray Donley stared into your soul. The contrast was phenomenal & the first piece, a scratch by Jeffrey Palladini paved paths to interpreting it in so many ways,

Places: "Early Morning Barn" by Dale Najarian evoked a peaceful feeling with the stunning mix of foggy blues and grays. Marie Danielle LeBlanc's finger masterpieces shed color on the walls while Alexis Duque's architecturally inspired drawings reminded me most of my own sketches and shared a common love for supercluster tales.

All artwork is for sale.

The exhibit is on until December 16 and the gallery is only open on Wednesdays from 12-5. Free admission & proper health guidelines put in place. I highly recommended visiting this gem!
